About NCNW
The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is an “organization of organizations” united to lead, advocate for, and empower women of African descent, their families, and communities. Founded in 1935 by the visionary Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and led for forty years by the legendary Dr. Dorothy Height, NCNW connects more than 2 million women and men through 350+ local sections and 37 national organizations.
We champion causes across education, entrepreneurship, health, civic engagement, and social justice, fighting the systems that create inequity and empowering communities to rise.

The Roselle Section of NCNW was chartered on April 20, 1972, by 50 women committed to transforming their community. Over the past 53 years, we’ve continued that legacy through powerful programming, partnerships, and events that uplift, connect, and empower.
Our local efforts align with NCNW’s national priorities—focusing on health equity, economic empowerment, education, and social justice. From celebrating legacy at our Harambee Brunch, to recognizing leadership at our Mother’s Day Brunch, to nurturing fellowship through Community Game Night and the Hats Off to Dorothy Height Tea, we pour into one another and the community.
